Romantic Gift Ideas : Traditional Romantic Gifts

Chocolate

Chocolate has long been given as a gift. It has become associated with a gift to express love and affection. Chocolate is made from the seeds of the tropical cacao tree and was once thought to have aphrodisiac properties. In fact the famous lover Casanova is said to have taken chocolate before seducing his lovers.

The chocolate that we know today was first created by by Rodolphe Lindt in 1879. Lindt added cocoa butter to chocolate and gave it the wonderful texture that snaps easily but melts on the tongue that we all know and love today.

Although it has been claimed that chocolate contains aphrodisiac chemicals there is no clear proof of this . Either way anyone who loves chocolate appreciates being presented with an attractive box of chocalates and it is a recognized romantic gesture worldwide.
