I have tried one or two dating sites before
and have never found one as frustrating as this one. Who are they
trying to kid. If the meager selection of profiles I was presented
with were supposed to be my 'perfect matches' I will give up and
marry my Bull Terrier.

My experience of eHarmony so far have been
most rewarding. At 50+ finding myself single again came as a big
shock. I no longer felt the 'old' ways of finding a date seemed
appropriate and a friend suggested I try online personals. The first
site I tried left me feeling dejected as the majority of woman on
the site seemed to be looking for an ideal man that probably doesn't
even exist. I do not consider myself an Adonis but the ignorant
and rude replies I received off some woman (if they bothered to
reply) seemed totally unjustified. I was about to give up on the
whole idea completely until I found eHarmony. I realize that the
services might not suit everyone and parts of the process were very
frustrating, but I feel it has offered me personally a much more
suitable selection of women to communicate with. I haven't yet met
the love of my life but I have had some very pleasant dates and
am extremely hopeful.

There is HARM in eHARMony.
I joined eHARMony about a year ago. Most matches are thousands
of miles from my home state. The few that matched were physically
incompatible (40# heavier than me, looking 25 years older, etc.)
On top of that their supposed 29 points of compatibility are a "random
walk" with precious little science behind them. Interestingly,
they don't put up pictures of couples with failed realtionships
or divorces through their service (yes, these occur). You can pretty
much know that customer service drops when a company starts advertising,
as has eHARMony, on national television alongside the other infommercials.
Not that their customer service was ever any good, but now it truly
SUCKS. I was summarily cut off several months ago for non-payment.
Two hours of phone calls and dozens of unanswered emails later,
they re-instated me. It seems they had forgotten their promise of
"you buy six months and will double your time." And they
made me feel like a pain when I was finally right. Want more reasons
to gloss over eHARMony.com? When matches start accumulating, it
becomes a total free-for-all to guess who has sent you fresh messages.
There is NO system to sort messages on their system, so you have
to wade through a dozen pages to look for any new messages, clicking
on each account individually. Whatsmore, even when there is mutual
agreement that neither party wishes to continue, eHARMony makes
it impossible to close/delete/remove a match. Thus, you have to
wade through all accounts each time you log on to find the active
match. Furthermore, if someone were to complain about you or read
an old newspaper article about you that says you kicked your pet
pig... or, I gather, bounce a check or something, they will drop
you without notice or recourse and send EVERY CONTACT YOU EVER MADE
ON THEIR SITE a nasty note saying that you violated their (unspecified
terms)and that, if they continue to chat with you THEIR COLLECTIVE
BUTTS ARE COVERED. Need more? This site, by definition, attracts
gals, or guys, with "nice personalities..." i.e., the
ones that couldn't get invited to the senior prom based on personality,
or looks, or anything else. Hence, the layers of pseudo-science
questions to determine some other basis for a match. Did I mention
this is a mostly WASP organization. Minorities are definitely minoritized...
Also, most everyone longterm on eHarmony, now that they have opened
the floodgates, has flunked out of the other up-front, cheaper,
and quicker-working online dating sites. Stay tuned for www.eHARMonySUCKS.us
... lessons from those of us who have been taken to the disHARMony
cleaners.
