Love@Lycos isnt your conventional Dating Site. It is more of a community where the empasise is on fun and flirtation. As with many free sites it can be a little risque and many of the people registered are simply there to pass time. The service is free but recently Lycos has added a Deluxe feature at a small cost and some of the extra features are now only available to Deluxe members. These are in no way necessary to enjoy the site and you can communicate freely with anyone on the site for free.

Signing Up to Love@Lycos

Signing up for Love@Lycos is a very simple process. You get hints at every stage of the sign up and smiley faces appear next to form fields once you have completed them. You have to enter your personal information to register then you are taken to the Love@Lycos profile section where you can choose to add as much or little about yourself as you please. There is lots of room to write a saga about yourself if you choose but most people on Love@Lycos choose to keep their profiles light and witty.
Once you have joined Love@Lycos you can add your photo, search members and contact them. The search allows you to search by area, sex, and other criteria, like who's on line. You can contact members by sending them messages to their Love@Lycos mail box or signing their guest books.
Other free services are Friends Lists, Block Lists (for those unwelcome pests) and virtual Dating. people who have visited your page are displayed (only last 5 unless Deluxe) and if you fill in the personality questionnaire a comparability score is shown beside other users names.

Deluxe Membership allows you to spice up your page with some rather garish wallpapers, see the full list of visitors to your page and add a gallery of photos to your page.

Conclusion

Love@Lycos has a lot of quirks, but it's leaning is on fun and flirting. The site has a young, fun feel and is probably not going to work as well as a fee paying site if your looking for a serious relationship. That is not to say you can't meet great people and possibly more, many people have. You need to be prepared for the possibility of fake profiles, spam and the odd down right rude person though. You also need to log in often if you want feedback and messages, it seems most people search for online users and ones with photos. It is great fun and there is a great variety of members from all walks of life.

Love@Lycos has announced that it will no longer be offering the delux membership subscription to their free dating site. They will be soon be launcing a new free dating site called JubiiDate that they say will be free and will offer all the features found on the delux membership to Love@Lycos.
